THE HIPPOCAMPUS

The Hippocampus is at the core of what is known as declarative memory – memory of facts and events that can be recalled later for conscious reflection. We tell stories to recall the past and we look through telescopes to see the past. We write in part to stop time, to hold on to the present as it becomes the past as we grow into the future.
